Lowrance Elite-5 GPS - Navionics Gold Card

Hey guys,

I bought a Lowrance Elite-5m GPS in Bunbury with Aust Navionics Gold Card , I used it in Esperance and the detail was excellent but when I went up to Kalbarri it was hardly worth turning on. Heading South towards Wageo we were approximately 500m West of the cliffs yet the GPS showed us cutting across the land ???? Also there was practically no detail.

Do I need to change regions or something ???

I've tried finding info online and I've read what came in the box but can find anything.

I'm heading up to Steep Point in a couple of weeks and I would really like to have as much detail as possible. Any help you guys can offer would be much appreciated.

Thanks Watto

I wouldn't be too alarmed Watto I had the same situation out of Gnaralo, heading out of the bay it was showing us still on dry land. I think it's the way the map is drawn. All the navigational points at sea were  fine.

none of the brands of charts show much info around kalbarri but yes check your regions by getting into your main menu select charts and then your region

Watto- you definetely have to change regions. I usually fish the west coast, then went to Bremer at Easter and had the same trouble- changed the region and was all good!

You should be able to  select

You should be able to  select a chart Bremmer bay To.... one othe places in the far north and that basicly covers the whole west coast...That should help with the detail. The other thing is Don't relly soley on your GPS. Depending on how paranoid the US is feeling they can scramble the satelites so accracy can go to sh*t.

Is anyone using the navionics Platinum card, how do they compare with the gold. Are the depth contours on either, sufficient? Finally, will these ards be able to used by any brand plotter?

Cheers
