Structure Scan HDS10

Ok I have the HDS 10 and am interested to see if anyone has added the bits to theirs to perform Down Scan/side scan.  I am only interested in down scan as it looks the goods but for 6 hungy it would want to be worth it..

Cheers

HDS 10 structure scan

I have got one on an HDS7.I bought it for looking for dive spots in 23m to 36m but I have found it a waste of time in that depth. In shallow water it is awesome. Travelling out of Bunbury harbour in 10m of water it shows everything on the bottom and you can see the jetty pylons to the side of you.I have been over a big lump in 16m outside the harbour and it showed quite good.Once you get to the deep stuff you need to go from 800khz to 400khz and this just does not work very well.I have been over lumps that I know out there and they just do not show up.As for the down scan just use your normal sounder

Haven't looked back but there's a lot of reports about other brands being netter. Must admit I didn't look at other brands but did a lot of research on www. There's plenty of stuff there - some USA but still valid.

Works up to about 20m. If you troll then it's great to see what is out the side. You may not pass over the school but can se it out to the side.

Read the reports about downscan. There's plenty of info about seeing the bottom in the oposing plane. You need to understand what the downscan transducer is doing to get your head around it.

For the few $ I reckon it's worth it but depends on what you fish for.

I used it in Albany up the Kalgan river. Wow! Could see bream snags everywhere ou the side of the boat.
