Lowrance hdi 7 extremely slow!

Have been running this unit as a combo for a while now while I save for an upgrade.
Im happy enough with the sounder, being able to mark individual fish in 50m but the gps is rubbish,
not sure if it the prossesor of the unit or it needs an external Aerial but the load time when zooming and moving the cursor is making it almost un usable. I was planing on keeping the elite as a dedicated gps and get a furuno sounder
now I'm not too sure. I just updated the software and had a play in the driveway and made no difference.
has anyone had this issue?!

My HDS 1 became too slow for me after a few years so ugraded to a newer one.

Lowrance startup
I think that every new version of lowrance devices they get slower. As I have a old lowrance global map plotter which starts up quick and still use it. Then had a Elite 5x Dsi which was slower start up, then upgraded to a Elite 5 HDI which seems to take an eternity to start up, probably more so when your watching it. Think it is a processor problem, being well under rated for job at hand.

A few items to try.
save all of your marks to SD card. Remove card from unit. Delete all marks and routes and do a factory reset from soft wear selection.
find software version on unit and check he Lowerance site for latest version. Update version where necessary.
take the unit out with no waypoints in it and check performance of screen changes etc. if all a little better then put SD card back into unit and see how it performs with waypoints.
