Lowrance Sounder HDS 5X

Hi all.

Would be great full if anyone has any ideas to assist

I have a Lowrance HDS 5X sounder and have two issues I cant seem to resolve. .

Originally I had a Lowrance X107CDF 50/200Mhz unit of which I dropped the screen and was provided a replacement model/ screen HDS5x.

At the same time I purchased the paddle wheel as I was advised it was compatable.
Currently the paddle wheel doesnt work at all and the temp sensor shows around 52-53 C.
The transducer type is HST DF SBL 50/200.

Have you selected the transducer type in sonar installation menu, if not this may be the issue. Your transducer type will be in there.

You can callibrate your transducer temperature but they rarely need it to be done.

For the paddlewheel you will need to tell the unit to look at that device and to use it, as chances are it has not picked up that it is there , it should be in the System menu, go to advanced and then look under features. It should be in here.

Hope this helps.

Thanks

Transducer type has been selected as per the silver tag attached to cables.
It appears the temp can only be changed to a range of 80-120% ? Doesn't help when Im currently at 53 C.

I'll go and check advanced settings and see what happens with paddle wheel.
Ill keep you posted.

Ive gone and checked advanced features in settings and there are only two options.
Structure _ controls whether sonar structure features are shown. Ive tried this on and off and nothing changes.
The other option is to do with Rsdar which I don't us and it is off.

The right transducer type has been selected in the installation menu and I have also tried to see if anything changes with other 50-200 options. But no go.

I think the paddle wheel setup you have maybe nmea2000 type, if it is the problem will probably be related to network settings. Ensure the network tees are correctly setup and network needs to be powered up, can't remember off the top of my head but you will need to do a network setup in the menu also

The back of the unit has a port for NMEA 2000. However the current cable I have that plugs into sonar at back of unit and is a split cable, 1 to the transducer and 1 to the paddlewheel.
Im not to concerned that paddle wheel not working on unit as speed can be sought from separate GPS unit.
Paddlewheel does not come up as separate device and there are no network tees
