Made it

 5461 km

1269 litres of diesel

83 hrs of driving over seven days

Avg speed of 66 kmh

Diesel burn of 23.5 litres per hundred km

11.5 tonne truck trailer and boat load

C'von to Flying Fish Point Qld

Zero fuck ups, zero breakdowns, zero dramas

Some of the worst roads in Australia were driven

Victoria Hwy NT. Avoid at all costs

Cloncurry to Hughenden was abysmal to say the least. Two and a half hours to cover 113km in one section, beyond fucked. How this is a national highway has got me stumped.

Big shout out to Duralite trailers, they built me a bombproof trailer that shat all over any road conditions even with a 3.8 ton load. No boat damage at all. Even bigger praises to my ancient 88 Mitsubishi who not once complained and just kept on moving us forward, sometimes at 50kph and sometimes at 90kph all dependent on road conditions.

Thank fuck that trip is done and dusted. Never again!.

Well done. Some shit roads.

Agree on the poor state of the roads, going from NT into QLD was shit last time we went through, rough and narrow with not alot of room for oncoming trucks, you did well to get that boat through there.

A mission it was.

There needs to be some serious loot spent on the so called national highway. it would be interesting to see how much diesel and time was wasted in getting off the go pedal and getting back up to speed after slooooowing down for shit sections of road. I'd say the Gnaraloo track on its shittiest day would be a far superior road to the Victoria and Barkly highways. The only real difference between the two is one is covered in bitumen and the other is not, the underlying surfaces are just as bad. Hats off to all the brave truck drivers that travel these roads on a regular basis.

Good to see you got there without any dramas Chris. Preparation goes a long way and yours was very thorough. How many times do you see people not even get out of the metro area before their wheel bearings go!
