mandurah - 2nd week of school holidays
Well, after a long fishing drought i am set to break it next week in mandurah. Last time i wet a line was steep point in may this year. Fishing desires have been put on hold over winter while i found a new car as the engine karked it in the last one coming back from steep point, and i also undertook installing a kill tank into the boat. In amongst that some family dramas and challenges have kept my focus, but fingers crossed they're all moving in a positive direction. Most recently the misses did her MCL in her right knee which threw our plans for a week in mandurah into disarray. But she has declared herself fit and so we're off. I have to work the first few days but i have checked the forecast and later in the week may be promising.
So it is time to put the kill tank to the test and hopefully fill it with some fish.
Getting two new cray pots delivered to me while we're there, and found a local selling second hand cray pot rope. So in my down time I'll have some splicing to do. I'll find time to catch some herring for cray bait come november, and might even putter up the murray and have a counter meal at the ravenswood.

Steep !!
G'day tassy you might need to do a bit more research on
your trip bud !! Steep is a far hike out and there's no cabins
power water or shelter of any kind and also you have to book
to stay !! A day trip out with a bit of fishing chucked in would
be close to 9-10 hr round trip back to denham !!! Cheers da pirate!

Yep. As da pirate said
Yep. As da pirate said said.... its about a 4-5 hour drive from denham depending on the track condition. And the only facilities are long drop toilets. You take everything else. All my fishing there has been boat, not land base. But there are plenty of threads on here about land base so best advice is to do a search.

Thanks for the message
Thanks for the message randall. If its a little roughish the whiting have been going off just about a K to 2 Ks out of the cut. Just head WNW a little and look for sand patches among the weed/reef.
About a week ago had more than enough for a great feed or 2.
Boat's getting new carpet after 5 yrs in the Pilbara burned the shit out off it. When I lifted the carpet about 2kg of Pindan travelled south with it.
If it is OK might give you a buzz.

Had a lovely day out on the water out on the bouvard reefs. Did quite a lot of exploring but little reward. Magnificent conditions. Put the kill tank through its paces and very happy with how it works. Saw quite a few whales which is always a bonus. Only keeper was the deckie's queen snapper on the last drift of the day.
