very nice and supprising
That's a good lot of crabs there, I'm quite surprised at the good catch at this time of the year. Most of the crabs that I've seen so far have been small (under size) and with their claws or legs missing from being caught and measured so many times.

Went out twice over the Xmas break
And certainly got a few. Have to admit scooping was more productive than the nets, with 8/10 from scooping. All nice size to, and full.
Could have kept heaps more, but because fishing from a boat and only 1 licence had to limit the kids, but IMO nothing funnier than watching kids scooping, especially when they miss and the crab "attacks". LMAO.

The Spot
We got them just in the shallows on the left just after the first right hand bend going upstream from the main traffic bridge.
The female was pretty crook had no nippers and i just pick it it up by hand.
There was one empty one but the rest were nice.
Had mates getting them up in the Serpy river and out from Coodanup.
Good luck

It sounds like a tough gig
It sounds like a tough gig to get a real good feed anywhere at the moment. Got another 7 at Mandurah the other day but was tough going. I have been crabbing down there for quite a few years and usually clean up at this time of year. Lots of smallies hopefully just means it is a late season and not a crap one. Not sure how quickly the little buggers grow but the ones I have been catching are way under size.
