I agree

especially down our way in Bouvard. Went out for the first time yesterday with Brother, nephews and a niece. All off them novices.

Got 4 legal in 3 x 10 pot runs when normally at this time off the year that would have been a limit easily.

BUT what got me very happy was the vast, and I mean vast amount of just undersize crabs. Not a single blank, most pots with at least doubles, and a few with 4s, and one pot with 6 all just undersize blues.

Now this surprise me because of the territorial nature of blues. They allways fight so there must be heaps down there to gather into a pot in those numbers. Call it at least our way a week or 2 away and I think one 10 pot string would be enough easily for a feed, then top it up with a YF whiting pop on the flats Pinny side.

The majority undersize A T M

The majority of crabs are under size at the moments, give in another two weeks and the crabbing should be good.
Crabbing in the canals is fraught with danger.
Being on the end of a lot of abuse from those who have canal frontage properties is not a nice experience.

LOL, was one of those once.

LOL, was one of those once. Rented a property on the canals between homes and yes, some get a little close to "your" backyard. However there is nothing the canali's can do to stop you as it is public open space.

Had the same issue as you

Mon, 2015-12-21 10:46

Had the same issue as you guys with tonnes of undersize ones the day before that at Pt Grey and Coodanup but found the honey hole the next day and I was only pulling size ones last weekend with a few small ones, all males and all full of meat. I did drift from my initial location and found that just 20cm of depth made a difference to the sizes though.

Either way it's gonna be a bumper crab season.
