Hey guys, been heaps of fish getting about around my area of Mandurah.
Heres a few pics. Got my Skippers ticket the other day so its awesome shooting out from our canal house and trolling for Tailor or flicking surface lures for Whiting and Herring :)
Cheers
I started making my own Stingers for my Whiting lures, works a treat!!
First Metro Mulloway on Lure
This Bream came right up the bank i was fishing and inhaled my Zman Grub, Completely visual :D
Equal PB Whiting of 34cm on an Atomic walker with Stinger hooks, went mental!! Somehow managed to destroy that treble as well o.O
Been some stonker Herring along the drop-offs, they love smashing fast surface lures
Trolling in the channel always produces Tailor
What a feed!!

Nice work on the stinger too. You find you get more of them on that than on the treble?

Glenn - You got to find them
Glenn - You got to find them mate, most spots that hold bigger whiting are usually only accessed by boat anglers. (BTW, love your avatar pic :D)
Kraka - IM in the waterside one mate, good access to everything :D
Cheers guys!!

Thanks guys, been a while
Thanks guys, been a while since i have caught some big whiting, might have to get back out there :)
I use 20lb braid (brand doesnt matter) and just tie that to the little gamakatsu stinger hooks. I really like the hooks as they offer such good penetration on the fishes mouth!!

What rig do you use for the whiting
I just procured a Samurai 2-5lb and matched to a magic Sustain 2500. Didnt want to just get a whiting popper rod, but also a tailor chaser because we love sitting on the cut with a few beers at sunset chasing tailor. Last R&R only caught a few undersize but damn fun on that rig.
Some fine looking whiting there. Might have to get the 6wt fly and Crazy Charlie/clouser out and see if I can get one on fly. Live in Bouvard (Parkridge) and a spit to the ramp there and have found a nice patch of whiting.
I hope I dont offend someones secret spot, but for whiting beginners without a boat there is a spot just to the north of the Leprechuan Shop. Just look for the old Jetty that pokes out, and around there is heaps of worm holes in the sand, thus plenty whiting to try for. But the boat is certainly better to get to spots.
Well done callum.

Stinger tangles
Hi Callum......Looks like another great session. Thanks for sharing.
How do the stingers go for tangles when you are casting. Nothing worse than a tangled lure just when you have that monster Whiting pop up behind your lure!
Also how dangerous are they for when you come to de-hook a thrashing Whiting.

I find the stingers don't
I find the stingers don't tangle with themselves at all but rather the front treble if you decide to leave it on. Never had a problem with whiting thrashing around, they're pretty tame by the time you get them in
