In the market for a 6m Fibreglass! What should I look for?
Hey there,
I am looking for a 6m fibreglass second hand boat. Some key areas that I am am looking for is a boat around the 19-22ft range, anywhere from 10-20k. Must be an outboard. I wouldnt mind buying a cheaper boat with a shit motor and upgrading when that dies to a nice new 150 4 stroke.
I have seen a lot of boats for sale that are way overpriced! also seen a lot of really old shitty engines that would be a ticking time bomb. for example a fraser 626 with the original evinrude donk on the back.
The top 3 boats in order of preference I have been looking out for are:
1. fraser 626
2. Voyager 19ft or the voyager ghia
3. pacemaker 2100
What boats should i be looking out for, what issues for certain models and other miscalaneous information you can think of?
I have all the gear but no idea

I had a Fraser 626 with the pod and the ride was superb. Almost as good as my current cruise craft.

I know that for the money Im looking for i would be getting a shitty enginge. but atleast if the pod work was done then the hard bits are all finished i can go and run that engine into the ground and buy a new one.
Also bit worried of buying a 10-15k boat with a real shit motor then finding the floor, transom and stringers are rooted as well.

Anything for 10-15 K in that range...
..is likely to have both a worn-out old 2 stroke AND rotten floor/stringers/transom, but the outboard will be easier to spot. Get into the 20's, you have more choice. Limiting yourself to $20k tops is always a problem, IMO, lots of genuinely good stuff just a bit more. But, as Straith said, you might get lucky. Generally turns into a buyers market in winter, in Perth.
