Hopefully it
makes it's way over here. We need the rain big time. Most of our Low cells and associated cold fronts come from over there, so can't see why not.
I wonder if that particular system is all that different from some of the cells we were getting about a month ago when we had 7m+ swells and 120km/h winds.
Talking down here not metro of course

every local surf blogg is going wild that side with talk of 10m plus swells and monster waves coming in.
Some saying it will be bigger than the 2008 monster that bashed the Cape.
Yeah Metro Perth is lucky not to get those kinds of blowers.
Big thing about this one is it's very steep iso-bar gradient and falling into the low 900mbar region. I'd hate to be on the sea in the next 72 hours off the South Atlantic or Idian Ocean coast line!!!

Your forgetting
the fact that the earth is so dry that it takes a couple of months or 200-300mil of rain for the runoff to get going properly. Down here most of the farm/vineyard dams are still under 50% due to running dry over summer. We need at least another 150-200mil to avoid heavy water restictions this summer.
Just found this -

Mate 90% of the rainfall in
Mate 90% of the rainfall in metro perth goes straight back via the stormwater drains in the ocean!
With all the infrastructure/ paving, roads and roofs hardly anything soaks into the earth!
Perth metro needs a much better catchment system than what is place ath the moment SFA!

no not a cyclone, this is an
no not a cyclone, this is an antartic low pressure cell!
even though the water is old in terms of cyclone conditions, it's still a lot warmer than the air in the region, causing massive updrafts of air rising and so forming the low.
Latest track shows it just missing the Cape of Storms coast line, bu still huge winds and swells expected.
I'll try and get some picks from mates that side that will be out for the surf and wild weather.

Not a cyclone
Just a big storm. Cyclones do need temps and its the wrong season.
