it is confusing with all the other giberish they write up but we looked into it ourselves after an argument with my sis in law ,and i won. first and only time to do so "lol"
1 ton boat plus fuel & supplies, from what he's told me thats the legal speed for the tonnage we are towing. Even if it wasn't for good cruising speed fuel wise and braking speed 90klm is very good on fuel especially for long distances, towing the boat to Leeman we get 22miles to a gallon (he only works in imperial)
On the information package frojm DPI it says that 100kph is the maximum towable speed for any trailer not exceeding 4500kg. Apparently they changed it from max of 90kph in 2002 so that you didnt get the convoys of slow moving trailers heading north every year.
So i guess in theory Bob would be able to tow his 1 ton plus boat at 100kph. Whether you could or if he deemed it safe to do so is another matter i guess. I know when i tow my tinnie i do 100kph. But when i am towing my 5.5m boat i only sit on 90kph, towing it with my hilux i get 50km to 10L. Not Very fuel economic. Maybe i should get a more powerful tower. 2.8L Diesel struggles.
I hate crosswinds throwing my car and the boat around.
100-105 for me when towing up north. Had a mate get booked doing 115 coming into carnarvon towing my old boat. We looked at the officer when he said 15km over as if he had two heads, as neither of us knew anything about the 100km max. Having said that 100 is probably a bit smarter.
Haha thats what spurned me to create this post. One of my mates got done doing 115km coming into carnarvon a few months back too, same thing he had no idea about the limit.
