MBFC needs reality check on how to

some 11 months ago made enq. on anothers behalf how to join mbfc. application was filled in witnessed and handed in. after countless attemps to contact over the last 2 months finally got a response , too many applications you didnt even get to go on waiting list , my gripe is surely could have advised at the time or within a month , rather than bin the application without even as much as thank you but unable at this time .

Yes

they are like that at the moment. Unless you know someone, or is someone in the community no hope off getting in there now. So after reading the post intro I did think it must be MOFSC (Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club).

Appears mangles are the same, becoming a little elite!!

Hmm sounds like another elite institution getting too good for themselves. But yep no excuse for rudeness and no reply.

Frank, it suprises me that a person of your age and life experience chooses to express themselves in the way you have, in regards to your son not obtaining a membership at this current time. As a member for nearly 20 years, this place is a second home to me and the members i consider like family, your comments i take seriously and to heart.
The facts i have been provided are, your sons membership form was presented to the club on the 10/3/13, which was actually after the cut off date of October to apply for membership.
Your sons membership form has not been binned as you stated, it is sitting filed at the club, along with many others. Your sons name may not be on the waiting list at this stage due to the large numbers before you also waiting. As this decreases, the next membership form off the pile gets added.
As far as I am concerned, your comments are way off the mark with being treated rudely. Myself (as a member) and Glen (Vice President), have had contact with you before this email was sent to you and have helped you as much as possible. I have attached the response below from the club, and I feel is far from being treated like shit.

Hi Steve, Thanks for your inquiry. Your application is in my office, but has not been put on the waiting list at this time, as it was submitted when apps were closed. There are approx 70 on the list with approx 50 positions becoming available. I would not envisage your application will be considered in the next intake. Also I should point out there is a waiting list for hardstand which backdates over 12 months for current members. I will contact you if situations change re your application. Cheers, David Carrick. Secretary.

I will leave it up to the members of Fishwrecked/Mangles Bay Fishing Club to comment and come to their own conclusion of your comments made, and that by myself.
I believe a public apology is required, on this site , and a letter to the club.
The comments above are that of myself, Dave Hilton, and not of the Commitee of Mangles Bay Fishing Club

cheap beer? kids competitions?great prizes?good atmosphere?  sounds like they may be in the running for club of the year   NOT!    to have in excess of 1mil. in the bank suggests not enough going back to their members , and to rule with an iron fist can - will eventually be there down fall

In all fairness $1mill sounds

In all fairness $1mill sounds like a lot of money but you only have to ask the MAAC and youll realise that the money can vanish if the building fails then maintenance needs doing.

i dont have a problem with Glen or yourself.  what i do have a problem with is not being notified one way or the other at the time of lodging or thereafter. came to the club asking where things are at on at least 5 different times . thanks! now we know where we stand.

the club itself had no idea until after the recent AGM how many positions were going to become available. It is now apparent the only reason for wanting to join was for storing a boat, otherwise the matter of urgency would not of been a problem, as guests are more than welcome. If storing a boat was a issue  there are many other options short or long term that could be used, until membership came available.

I dont know why Frank has to apologise here

Fri, 2013-10-11 11:05

and/or write a letter to the club.

Apart from the "bin" comment it appears that he is just stating facts.

Application 11months ago

No response from the club

numerous attempts to contact

Finally got a response

Looking at that I do believe he has a reason to gripe because of the time frame involved. It would have been nice for him to have received a note earlier stating something like "received your application, but cant process it yet due to .........", and keep people in the loop about what is happening.

Being members of clubs in the past I do understand that the roles are mostly volies, and that it takes time to respond to all applications etc, but here it does appear that this particular application was not treated correctly.

Now this is just my opinion and I wrote because I dont feel like Franterie owes an apology to the club, and possibly it should be the other way around.

he made enquiries 11 months ago, only submitted membership form in March once memberships were closed, and was well aware memberships were not being renewed to later on in the year, unfortunately have to disagree Crasny, and stand by original comments

I stand corrected

Fri, 2013-10-11 11:51

Enquired 11 months ago. Still dont think an apology publicly needed. I was only trying to point out that Franterie doesnt appear to have done anything wrong for which to apologise.

doesnt directly affect me , other than i gave the club a thumbs up at that time and now regret having mentioned it to him . he primarily wanted to join as well as if poss.store boat .

had no idea how many positions were going to be available?

his application wasnt put on waiting list and in my view club {WHOEVER} should have called to at least say  no prospect of joining for the next intake in July - August 2013. not being able to join wont stop him its just going to make it a little harder thats all , im done!

Maybe the obligation of new

Sat, 2013-10-12 08:00

Maybe the obligation of new members be in an active volunteer capacity for 6 months as part of a probational introduction to ensure the dire state of 'volunteers' willing to step forward in clubs increases?

Too many people treat volunteers with contempt.
