Mid range bottom bouncer recommendations
Hey all
Looking for some opinions on some mid range bottom bouncing rods. I've been rocking a beauty of a $15 broomstick for years now and whilst it's not pretty and cops a few laughs it's still caught fish. But thinking it would be good to have something 'nice'.
I'm looking for something that will cover me for demersals big and small and the odd trip away with the potential for some bigger models or sambo by-catch. Possibly some jigging in there too. I've got a 5000FJ Stradic to go on it for the moment but would think about putting something slightly bigger with a max of 50lb braid at some point (if needed).
I'm partial to one piece rods in the mid 6ft range and have looked at the following. I thought I was set on a Daiwa saltist hyper till I picked up a Demon Blood which I got a little smitten with. Definitely has me considering the extra $100. I've got vouchers for the big blue shed shed so will have to come from there.
Daiwa Demon Bloods - Either the 6'3" PE4/5 or the 6'4" PE3/4 - tossing up between the two weight ratings
Daiwa Saltist Hyper V2 - Something like the combi jerk 6'4" PE2-4 or Hiramasa 6'3" PE4/5
Also briefly looked at the option of a T-curve 200 or a Terez which would probly be the 6'9" 40-80lb
PE ratings on rods have me stuffed too. Depending on the type of braid the lb rating can change dramatically. Why not just rate it with lb??
Anyway, I've clearly enjoyed looking at all the fancy tech and options so keen to hear from people who have actually used them!
Cheers!

Demon Blood
Hey Mate
I'd go the demon blood without a doubt. I bought a hyper and then regretted it and upgraded to the demon blood. Now I have 3 of them. They are way better than the t curves too in my opinion. There have been a few posts on here that generally agree the demon bloods are a bloody good choice. They take a bit of punishment too.
in term of the rating, I like a harder action so I can set the hooks properly in deeper water, so I'd say go the pe4/5, but if you like a softer action then go the 3/4. Both will work, so it's just personal preference. I run 40lb on the 4/5.

Wilson Venom Live Fiber PE 5
Wilson Venom Live Fiber PE 5 - 10 450g with a Talica 12 2 speed is what I use & has no issues with the big Bronze's. If you have drift in the vicinity of 32/10.112 - 115/27.641 you might snag the same combo I lost over the side last year.

ive got both the saltist
ive got both the saltist hyper and the demon blood. demon blood is a beast and has taken some massive punishment with sharks etc and just eats it up. i have 2 dbs now, one for casting, and they are amazing rods. prob more expensive than the saltist hyper tho.
i have my bottom bouncing one setup with either a seragosa 10000, or a pen slammer 4500. tough as nails. i think the pe 3/4 prob more versatile depending on how deep, what fish etc.

Thanks mate. What PE is the one you are using for bottom bouncing and what depths are you using that one in?

Recon you need a medium PE2-4
Recon you need a medium PE2-4 jigging rod suit to 200g jigs for the 5000 spin, use this for your plastics, jigging or snapper sessions...this to what ever depth the spool covers Steve, I use similar up to 60m. But I don't run heavy bottom sinkers on it.
Keep the broomstick going until you can get an addition heavier bottom setup PE4-5, this for dragging the heavy sinker or bottom meats etc.
