The Mighty Murray Black Bream

This morning at first light, my best mate and my self launched the little F390 into the Murray River at the South Yunderup ramp - the conditions where surpreme - a little breeze and no one on the water. My F390 with the Suzuki DF20A 4st glided up the river like the SAS on a mission - gee those suzi's are quite - We had 2 rods each - 1 rigged for bait - 1 for lures - all in the 1-4kg Diawa Graphite 7ft with the new Diawa BG 2500 - loaded with 8lb 8ply braid and 8lb Flurocarbon.

The water was very clean and with numerous splashes and the Garmin 4DV CHIRP showing a drop from 2.1m to 5m we decided to cut the engine and drift..... First cast of a unwieghted fresh river prawn ( whole ) and let sink - BANG !! - it got smashed hard - The mighty Murray Black Bream was on the hunt.

We travelled well past Pinjarra up the Murray, stopping for regular casts along the way and ended up landing 5-6 good size black bream - North of the Ravi pub was the most productive. We look for a tree branch poking out and just rope off to it.

Had a coffee and just admired the serinty of the Murray and both commented on how healthy the marine eco system is - only to both see a bloody dolphin pop up and disappear, this only confirms that it is a clean and healthy river system.

We had an cracking morning and both admitted we may have been bitten by the Black Bream bug.......
