Mindarie sharks
Finished up last weekend with the crays and dropped my pots at the back of Obstacle reef in 8mtrs to check occasionally over the christmas period for a bit of fun and pulled the pots on saturday morning for the first time in a week.
As I pulled up the first pot a very large bronzie followed the cray pot up, nothing unusual for some people to experience I guess but I have never seen sharks at the back of Obstacle reef before.
As I pulled the second pot I now had 3 bronzies circling the boat, I was in my little 4.3 and in such shallow, crystal clear water it was a little daunting but also quite cool.
I was removing the last of the crays and saw a different coloured shark head under the boat, I guessed it was in the 3-4mtr range and saw what I believed to be a white. I have seen a hell of alot of sharks and only seen pics of white's before but this thing just had a different attitude and the other bronzies kept their distance, the only other shark that looked similarish that I have seen before was a mako but this thing was different to that again in that the girth and head were just alot fatter.
Anyway, just thought I would share my story and warn anyone who might want to dive around Obstacle reef out of Mindarie as the whole reef is easily accessable and usually has good viz and is quite popular.
Stay safe over the chrissie period guys.
Cheers
Scotty

If yourve seen the amount of flogs feeding the sharks when pulling pots on the facebook page "crayfishing wa" it's no wonder why theyre following boats around.

I did see, albeit a while
I did see, albeit a while back a video of the bronzies following a cray boat out near rotto, and not just a few waiting for the scraps to be thrown over - literally just following the cray boat from pot to pot.
I am on the crayfishing wa page and will have a look.
They were certainly looking for a feed.

I wonder if the lack of pros
I wonder if the lack of pros fishing has impacted how the follow amatuers around? I was with an industry person on Sunday who said the pros were only going every 3 days as the co-op can't procss them. From yesterday they are letting them fish whenever they want.
