Hey guys. after, coming home fomr a run out deep i noticed my transducer bracket had come loose. it looks like the scres have pulle dout a bit. unsure if maybe i hit something while under way. was thinking of fixing it muyself as quite a long way to get it booked in anywhere.
I was thinkng my options are either;
screw in tight, and apply sikaflex aorund the screwheads to help seal. only concern is given they are self tapping screws that the thread hold may have bene effected?
2: pull screws out completely, aplly araldite to screws, then screw back in with sikaflex aorund the screw heads.
any suggestionos as to preffered methods, or other options? other materials to use?
cheers!

Easy fix.
By the looks of it the gel coat that's been peeled off I'd say someone's already done the sikaflex trick. Remove it completely backfill the holes with some epoxy if you can, redrill the holes and remount your transducer. A little smear of 291 won't go astray either.

Agree with above
I second this...
Thankfully Caribbean also only use the plan white gelcoat colour so DIY mixing and patching can be done with great results.

Mix some of
Mix some of this:
www.whitworths.com.au/polyester-gelcoat-white-250ml
With this:
www.whitworths.com.au/catalyst-10ml
And use this/mix in to thicken if needed to fill a big/deep area:

I have used these 3 items lots of time for various repairs over the past few years for pretty good results on my reef runner. Perfect colour match too...

Exactly what Silver Fox says,
Exactly what Silver Fox says, I would use Epifill (https://www.whitworths.com.au/pnt-epifill-wht-100g) to fill in the holes after drilling them out and simply mount the screws again.

Or get bigger screws and
Or get bigger screws and drill out out to suit. 291 is sikaflex marine, make sure you get the white colour at Bunnings and ask for the nozzle as they are a special size, otherwise it's minimum two trips to Bunnings...

As above
Use next gauge up screws if your bracket will allow, saves a lot of farting around

Hey guys.just an update.when
Hey guys.
just an update.
when we got to working on the boat it was kind of weird...
both screws were out equal amounts, but solid as a rock.
there was no damage to the gelcoat or surrounding fibreglass or the transducer.
the marks on the pictures where just the old sikaflex that was still stuck on.
ended up putting a bit of the marine araldyte on the screws and cscrewing them back in and sealing with sikaflex as seemed solid as a rock. if it loosens again i will try the epifill, or bigger screws as the next step.
really got me wondering how this happened. given the location adn with the extended swim platform i cannot see any was htis could have been hit, and if it was ripped out surely there would be more damage surrounding?
given its parked in the driveway, i am actually wondering whether someone may have had a fiddle with it. all the cars in the street were broken into a little while ago, so the thought crossed my mind. bit strange.
Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions. i have all the materials available now, and should this repair not work i now have some good ideas on what to do next!.
thank you greatly for all the input!!
cheers

Interesting
Looks like some bonehead has had a half hearted go at it. I'm glad to see it was an easy fix for you. I wish all boating jobs were as easy as yours.
