Petition to STOP new fishing laws
G'day to all
I would just like to bring to everyone's attention a petition that is going to hopefully be at most tackles shops about the fishing management paper 252, in particular to the
* Proposed Changes in State-wide Possession Limit Reductions and the Splitting of the Possession Limit.
* Reducing the Recreational Bag Limits.
We are trying to keep them as they currently are. If you see one in the store please sign it as we need hard copy signatures for a petition and it will effect everyone.
If you would like to help and your local tackle shop does not have one put a post on here with a contact and I will arrange something. This is being driven through the C.P.B.C. sports fishing group.
The changes that they are proposing have no data to back the reason for changes up. Now we are asking the Legislative Assembly
* To vote down/amend the proposed changes and guidelines proposed by the fisheries minister Hon Norman Moore MLC, in line with the above points of contention.
We all need to voice our opinion or the very very loud lobby groups who want all fishing band will change the rules under our noses.
Thank you
Leemo

+1 shark mack for bait
used to use them all the time when pro snapper fishing awesome bait for reds especialy but everything in general
would knock the fillets off and heavily salt them no need to keep them cold they last for ages in the sun just drain the juice and top the salt up once a day

Nice catch
Nic,haven't Seen a blue grouper in a long time, I remember spearing a massive one in the head t close rang to see it swim off and leave a bent spear.
Ive had better fishing days this winter than summer for sure, don't mind the cool weather.

Like the East - we should protect blue grouper
I regularly see one that would top 60lb - have it on video and have hand fed it pencil urchins so the size estimate is from less than arms distance away. It sports many scars from hook ups including a trace clearly visible on the video
Whilst there are plenty of them around the south coast it wouldn't hurt to protect them in metro waters and let their stocks recover as shooting them would be easier than ducks in a barrel - JIMO

Protected at Rotto already
No take of blues in the Rotto marine park already (line or spear). Outside of Rotto, the one fish limit in a bag of two demersals is pretty good protection already imo, as well as a few months a year with a demersal closure.
Completely protecting a species from spearos because they are curious makes about as much sense as protecting a species from line fishing because they will take a bait.
