Molloy Island - Jan 2015 help?
Submitted by Luked on Mon, 2014-11-24 20:31
Hi team,
read up on a lot of old posts, regarding Molloy Island.
couldnt find much recent info, however was chasing some info regarding whether many parties have had much luck recently doing some land based fishing, whether it be for black brim or any Kg whiting.
happy to try hardbody or poppers or zman, even bait.
Don't have a lot of time there so any recommendations on the island is much appreciated, location time etc.
staying on the island side, so all help welcome.
thanks in advance to those that can guide.
Regards
Luke

Upstream
I was introduced to the right way to fish the Blackwood by Damo6230 a couple of years ago. I went down in August with a mate targeting bream and while we caught over 30, only 2 were keepers at around 270mm so we tossed them back as not quite enough to feed us plus the wife. It was running pretty fast so perhaps the current had forced them into the bank which is why we caught so many. Try walking up the bank from the Caravan Park above the ferry - a few places you can have a clean shot.

I use to live there as a kid
I use to live there as a kid as me parents had an onsite van at Molloy spent many hours fishing that river and I still do when I target bream on the island is alot harder there is a sand bank to the south that can produce whiting and bream also the odd blue manner if you can get your hands on a kayak then fish the right hand side bank all the way to the ski area then on way back fish otherwise just be careful of the wake boats
if your solely fishing land based then your limeted as you can only go so far down tracks but still have good success down the I mainly use duo bivi vibes and squidgy wrigglers in 100mm bloodworm
