Monday in the Swan
Headed out today with a mate to test out his new honda 50hp & wet a line.
Launched from the Walter Point Boat ramp at around 11, as deepwater point looked a bit too hectic.
Headed towards the city, stopping along at a few spots on the northern banks that looked fishy. Mostly shallow water near the drop offs, so fishing between 5-10 feet. We were right that they looked fishy, if the blowies count as fish. Every spot we tried was flooded with them!
Anyway we gave the outboard a good run - it purred along quite nicely, and has plenty of grunt for his 14ft punt. Didn't seem to use much fuel either, so we were both definitely impressed. We had a little bit more luck at our last spot - about 100m from the boatramp in about 20feet of water. 1 nice flathead at 36cm, another good fish lost about 5 minutes later (presuming another flatty), and a little 25cm flounder. All released to fight another day.
Hope other people had more success than us!
Cheers

50hp on a 14 footer would be quick! Alos headed out from PW at about 930 straight into the chop to the Raffles. No crabs or fish but still had a bit of fun swimming. But, someone took one of our crab nets while we were waiting. Slightly enraging
