try the river for black

try the river for black bream, a small boat or canoe is worth its weight in gold in the river but you can hire these or walk the banks.   the beach has better options with a 4wd north of town but anywhwere along you can get tailor and the rest of the usual suspects.  there is a rough boat ramp into the ocean but conditions need to be calm and it is pretty easy to get bogged there.  if you can launch there is reef parallel to the shore a couple of mile out so plety of options inside and outside that

Yep...canoing is a good

Yep...canoing is a good option if you can get one.  i fished it last year with a hobie Kayak, went about 3 klm up river from the van park, light Bream outfit is the go for sure, 2kg braid and a selection of shallow running bream lures.  early morning was the best, you con throw some lures at the many snags, and troll slowly at the bends for some cracking Bream.  i landed about 6 bream with 2 being just under 40cm.  Tailor and herring out the front with some lazer slices will do the trick (if its not blowin a gail)  good luck!

Planning on doing landbased or maybe kayak, but no powered boats.

Will be camping at the moore river campsite, have got 4x4 but work ute so cant use it for off roading.
