moore river open?

was just wondering if anyone has been up there lately, and when it is expected to open?
i was there a few weeks ago, wasnt open, and im not sure how much rain is actually needed.

anybody ever livebaited a herring or the like, unweighted and casted into the current and left the spool in free spool for a while and then put loose drag on???

I'd be tempted to whack out a butterfly mullet flapping around in all that water. Then a handful of mulie cubes. I reckon there would be some nice sharks waiting too.

15 bream and a salmon trout
Was up there on Saturday.it looked like one decent rain away from break. So the last few days may have done it. The fish was great had a productive 4hrs

went up this morning, it still needs more rain to open!
fishing was average, with patches of seaweed coming through. managed a nice sized flathead tho.
