Black Rock, Kalbari.
Well I didn't get a hook up, but didn't stay too long. The swell was very low, 1.3 to 1.5 m and made the situation somewhat safe. I buggered off when I ended up in the path a a 4.5m tinnie comming back in. I looked and looked, and there were no boats returning, then I looked up and I was in a very bad spot for the tinnie. They were kind enough not to razz me, but I knew my situation was no good for the boaties and came back ASAP. Plenty of 1.5m swells and waves to keep head into.
Not sure I would kayak the spot again because of being in the way of returning boats, especially if I went into the water and needed some time to be back on. I will fish it with my boat next time. Plenty of other kayak options.

My first yak trip was up the Canning river, where I coughs and released my first black bream on artificials. That 28cm fish was followed by 6 more smaller bream and 2 yellowtail. Nothing outrageous but still my most memorable. The success of that first trip has fueled my love for the yak and fishing with lures!

Moore River.
Got smashed launching into surf at Moore River. Gathered my thoughts and fishing gear and paddled on. Out about one and half km, and I realised I lost the bait knife. Fishing mate not overly pleased, but that's life. After a few try's we knew it was hopeless without a knife. Saw a tinnie out a bit further, mate agreed to give it a whirl. Paddled out and the look on the face of the tinnie fishermen was tops. They strirred us about moving to this spot as a large GW moved them on from other spot :) . They lent us a knife and off we went. We would have been 4km out easy. Just rods, bait and a loaned knife. We paddled to the near shore reef reef and caught too many wrass. Headed back to beach and tried fishing a float, that we passed on way out, as a last fishing gasp. It was two hundred meters off the beach. Well the fishing was just undersize pinkie after another. Great fun. Just shows should have trusted my gut instinct on way out.
All of that was in a Finn Gizmo !!
This Xmas I took delivery of a Phrophecy 135 complete with life jacket, VHF hand held, and Lowerance x4. Have all ready fished Kalbaris Black Rock with it, last week. Handles great and will get some hammer out in Warnbro.

mine would have to be the time I anchored up under the mount henry bridge and dropped unweighted mussels down next to the pylon. in an hour I had 7 or 8 bust offs and landed at least 20-25 black bream all above 35cm. in the end I was just tying my hooks strait to the braid because I was sick of tying on a leader and was still landing them no problem. best session I have ever had on the river and the yak.

Hmmm, difficult to choose
i could say fishing the west side of Exxy a few years back and scoring my first Spanish, plus being busted off by big ooglies on the bottom.
or i could say fishing Dirk Hartog Island shallows full of snapper..........
or perhaps fishing the shallows near wreck point at the Abrolhos Islands last year and catching my first dhui from the yak :)
