Motor service

Gday all, have a df 90 Suzuki unfortunately has only clocked up 10 hrs since service this time last year, do I need to get it serviced regardless or will I get away with hopefully clocking up another 50 hrs or so before requiring service, it has just clicked over 300 hrs.

I wouldn't bother other than checking the oil and firing it up etc.
What I would consider is changing the impellor before you use it again.
The impellors fail really from only 3 things roughly in order

1/ lack of use-they set and harden then crack shortly after you start to use it

2/ dry running

3/ sand

My boats rarely sit for more a month (my swings) and at 200hrs the impellor is easily good enough to keep for a spare.

Remember also that using muffs will NOT tell you if the impellor is shagged. With good hose pressure you could throw the impellor in the bin and the hose will still push water thru.

Ta guys yeah oil is good, has been started on a fortnightly basis, but will get a new impeller, as you said if old one is ok I'll have a spare. Every time I go to work the weather improves, when home it's windy city lol.

If you've started it

If you've started it fortnightly and with plenty of water its probably spot on.
Get a spare and drop the leg to check it but likely its good.
Fairly easy to do yourself but if your not too mechanically minded get someone to show you first.
Takes about 30 minutes to an hour and a handy skill for any boat owner
