Moving to Carnarvon

 Afternoon all.

Long time lurker, occasional commenter yet first time posting. As it says above I'm in the ( very ) fortunate position to be moving to Carnarvon. Following the wife for work so that means no work for me.... yay yippee etc etc . Will be taking 5.5 m centre console and my dingy for creek work. Would appreciate a general point in the right direction for where to go to kill some time when it's not blowing it's tits off !!! Being a windsurfer I'm not too fussed about the five months of howling breezes and will fish whenever it's possible . Big bonus is Gnaraloo being two hours up the road. Any comments would be nice for both the positive and negative sides of living north.

Cheers

Sure Carnarvonite will be along soon to give some fishing tips. Was always amazed at the numbers of mulloway that came off the one mile jetty when working for fisheries.

Black Gen . Shame people are leaving an overlooked place in W.A . Favourite wife is working for the health department, people are always needing health care she's always going to be in work

Adam .. Ta for the jetty info . Was waiting for Carnarvonite to pipe up , shouldn't he be Sharkbayite now?

Places to fish

Might have shifted but still know where to go.

If its too windy for fishing out side then consider launching at Dwyers Leap and fishing the channel right next to the first island inside the mouth or around from the boat harbour down Teggs channel. For Dwyers you will need high tide to launch a 5.5

The Lady Joyce wreck is always a good spot if the wind is going to build up in the arvo as its up your bum on the way home. There are numerous little lumps if someone else is anchored on the wreck, just a matter of looking around, like about 300metre east there is a small channel that runs north south.

Don't suppose your surname starts with Swe by any chance? If so I met your lovely wife at an OSH Coordinator forum in Perth the other week :).

Anyway, if you are doing any land based fishing up there, you have lots of options as you may be aware. Quobba rocks, blowholes beach, Red Bluff up the coast, the mile jetty, fishing boat harbour, pelican point etc.

I must get up there in the new year and catch up with Tamara to fill her in on all the OSH stuff.

Carnarvonite has the good oil on the boat fishing side of things. In the right conditions you can launch up at the blows and chase mackies, tuna etc as well as bottom dwellers. It can turn to shite pretty quickly though, so you need to pick your days there.

Tight lines!

Yep

Gadsy you're a switched on man. She be the lady I'm tending house for the next god knows how long. I'm looking forward to all aspects of chasing fish up there.  Be it popping for whiting or ballooning for Mackies... I'm not fussed as long as I'm wetting a line . Bring it on!
