Fished Flatrocks on the weekend just south of Geraldton. Weather was great but the swell was building and the weed in the water was bad. Settled in to fish an area called Secret Mens Business. Put out two rods but found it to difficult with the weed so only fished with one.

Using Mullet strips as bait and a strandard rig with a large sinker to hold bottom I sat back and waited. At 5.45pm the rod bent over and line headed west. After realising it wasnt weed I got to the rod quickly and began to fight something large.

The fish felt like a shark running up and down the beach and taking line at every chance it had, after 15 minutes the fish still had plenty of energy but was now in the weed close to shore. Large fish,weed and 10kg line is not a good combo.

The fish finally surfaced after what seemed a very long fight but was probably 20 minutes max and washed in on a small wave.

At 17.2kgs it was one of the best Mulloway I have landed this year.
