heading up to Wedge Island for some landbased fishing in hopefully some good gutters. Just wondering what is a good mulloway rig set up?
thanks

2 6/0 mustad suacides
2 6/0 mustad suacides snelled on 1.2m of 60lb leader then a 60lb swivel. also have a runing star sinker on your mailine but make sure it stops at the swivel on the rig. for tailor 3 or 4 ganged 5/0 with 20cm of wire(optional) then 40lb leader attach to your main line. you can also ad a runing sinker

Going a bit overboard on your leaders there young fella, and no real need for wire on the tailor either. I used a 30lb leader most of the time and it's never failed me.

Pretty much summed it up.
Pretty much summed it up. Add a bead on the terminal end of the running sinker to (supposedly) protect your knot. Never know when that heavier leader may come in handy when you hook that big'un.
Also if using braid mainline I usually add around 5m of "shock" leader (mono) which I believe lets the sinker run more freely and reduces the amount of weed getting tangled in the braid (not a good thing , especially in the dark)

Sinker clips
I use running sinker clips, usually the blue ones and secure a spoon sinker. The sinker clip runs on a section of line about 350 - 400mm long, swiveled at each end and trace about 900mm long from the bottom swivel to the hooks. I use the smallest tiny ball sinker on the sinker clip line to protect the knot since the sinker clip will also get stuck on it.

My PB for tailor comes in around 7.5kg, haven't been tailor fishing for a while but caught heaps from southwest beaches around the 2 & 3 kilo mark in the past. I'm not an overkill bill when it comes to fishing.
cheers

I've got 2 x penn 850's
I've got 2 x penn 850's spooled with 30bbl braid that I use for Mullys, I don't worry about sinker clips nor beads and have never had a problem with running sinkers...
I use 40 odd lb sinker trace longer than the hook trace so it doesn't foul and tangle and use the wire grappel sinkers so they don't budge if fishing in swell/current... As soon as you get line droop you'll get weed if there is any about....
So the sinker swivel slides directly onto the braid and then the hook trace is tied onto the braid ( swivel )... So pretty much a 60lb hook trace ( what ever hooks u prefer ) and a running sinker wire grapple type... The best mully I caught was 140cm 54lb, when I think about the rod/hooks/trace that was used to catch that fish I'd do it differently now but as any mully hunter knows its a put in the time thing to get the rewards.... Good luck
