Mustang half cabin

 Hi gang.

Looking at buying another boat. Was going to buy another Voyager LTD but all the ones for sale at the moment are disappointing (compared to the one I sold a few months ago).  Im now looking at a Mustang 17ft half cabin with a 90hp yammy 2 stroke. Boat, motor and trailer seems to be in quite good condition.

I would like to hear peoples' opinions on the build quality and ride of old style Mustangs? Also what to look for when inspecting them?

The reason for going half cab is so the missus and my young daughter can have some protection from the elements.  We'll mainly be using the boat for Matilda Bay and inshore ocean fishing (Ocean Reef & Hillarys).

Thanks in advance!

Hold the motor via the leg

Hold the motor via the leg while it is half tilted and just see if the transom moves,Rott in the transom.

walk on the floor see if that moves up and down, same again stringers and ply have Rott.

crazed or cracked gel coat isn't a real big problem, just been seating outside for a long time.

two strokes smoke but with a good tune and using best oil they run great, just be warned with a half cabin and and slight breeze the smell will drift into the cabin, not nice for girls and mums.

and old glass boats run comfortable in all sorts of weather just the thing for the family.

Thanks mate. Will check the things you mentioned.

Another model is the Penguin half cabs in the 17-19ft range. Anyone have thoughts on those?
