My first gummy such an awsome fish!

first gummy shark, very happy with it, not huge but put up a good fight, been a dream fish for me for my entire fishing life, very prowed of it... this time how's about you people show some curtesy, and achnoledge just because I'm not a pro, and likely younger than most of u thus not nesseceraly having as much experience, dosent mean I'm lying... this fish was 120cm and just under 6kgs, was actually the 3rd one we hooked within 15 mins first one was a monster but pulled the hooks boat side as I went to grab its tail! :\ but that just makes me even more keen to chase em! They fight insane for there size as well!...remember, don't assume things, then complain when I argume my case... TBH didn't even want to post this, me brothers big salmon wasn't good enough so why would this be right... Just want to see what the genuine people think and if I can offer any tips for those also chasing a gummy. Cheers guys tight lines...../!

Very good on the chew also, as the Faulkner family said (above) you don't have top prove a thing. You know what you caught and when you caught it and that is all that counts.
Well done.

Changed the heading

Wed, 2017-06-28 23:08

There ya go bro changed it to something less cringe aha, didn't stop the haters last time. I'm sick of them thinking they know it all tho, fact is none of us do, they need to realise that. Some one who has fished for a few years can be just as thouough as some one who had for decades, just depends on capacity to learn and how u adapt to the environment ie techniques u use and create to benifit your areas and so on and what u pick up along the way. All good if they have no respect tho they want to defend there crown I'll let them be, anyway I knew from the beguinning this post isn't gonna get hate, the heading was more a statement with regard to previous posts. Anyway I'm sure u get it, cheers bro..../!

Good catch.

Maybe stop trying to inflame anyone that reads it by putting all your victim blather in with the post. I bet if you made a sensible post like you started out then no-one would be having a go and just congratulating you.

Have a read through the site for some other young fella (Kingfisha, kingfisher1, KF1 or some such names) and you will see another case of how not to go about things.

Don't forget, you don't need the approval of the internet to be a whole person

Thu, 2017-06-29 08:11

The way you write it out having a go at everyone on this site will get you no where. Next time only write about your trip/fish without any of the unnecessary banter and you'll find your post will be better recieved. Also just remember a lot of members here have been fishing a LOT longer than you and probably know a bit more too so it's probably worth taking some of it in rather than challenging it. I know this site helped me a ton when I was a young bloke

Geez the salmon post bro, no banter in any of it, comments starts out all good, then the shit rolls in and dosent stop! Yea I know these pros and so on but it's when they challenge me that I get fired up, they seem to think they know it all, once had one have a go at me saying it's impossible to catch a mullet! Then when I showed him a photo of me with one, he said I was lying and it's a whiting! Ahaha so messed up, but cheers anyway man tight lines.

Thing is that's not me tho, I didn't do that, and everyone jumped the gun and assumed so. I understand that as I said, but then when I explained my self over and over again, I got the same result, that my friend is pure ignorance. And that's why I got pissed.  Chere's bro

Never lied about any casts

Thu, 2017-06-29 20:59

and I've never lied once about any of my casts, I cast a 55gram metal the other day on my aird X 4000 combo, 30lb braid, cast a fair distance, closed the bail as soon as the metal hit the water. Keep in mind the reel as u can easily look up retrieves 101cms per turn... it took 116 winds to get it back in. Do some math, roughly 117.2m cast. But I bet that's a lie as well, if your not getting distance, learn to cast bro!

I swear some of youse didn't

Fri, 2017-06-30 16:48

I swear some of youse didn't go to school... how the FK is it hard to cast over 100m with no wind and just a sinker? Like seriously!!! Just like they guy I argued with at palmies who thought I couldn't cast 100m cause he couldn't, I listened to his reasoning, the dumbest bit was when he said "look at that boy over there, that's 100m, this jetty is about 30m"... lmfas I couldn't hold it in, do u know how long palm beach jetty in Rockingham is? Look it up, it's exactly 125m!!! Ahahah. And he said 30 aha. Maby that's where your confusion lies? If ur telling me with a huge sinker and powerful combo u can't cast 3/4 the length of that jetty, there is some serious health issues...of cause u probs haven't ever seen it, so I advise u look up the length of one of your local jetties, and go cast along it. U will be amazed! Tight lines bro

How many winds of the handle

Fri, 2017-06-30 03:44

How many winds of the handle it takes to bring the sinker back doesn't mean jack when you're casting & any idiot should be able to recognize that fact without even thinking about it. Your weight travels in an arc when you cast it, not a direct, perfectly straight line like a bullet (which also has an arc). That means you cast out more line than the distance the weight travels. I'd bet my left nut you can subtract 20m-35m from your estimate. Do that & your in the ball park of what your actually casting.

Learn not to ignore the bloody obvious bro!

Date Joined: 22/12/16

Your just a tad wrong bro

Fri, 2017-06-30 17:07

Don't know about 35m as I belted it on a rod with a max weight of half that in a fairly straight line, and TBH, even u don't math bruh, ever cast and closed the bail just before it hit the water? I bet the line pulled tight instantly and your bail shuttered, the arc is minimal as with an object your casting, there's the weight of the line as well attached to it, although minimal, that resistance is enough to sorta counter the arc to a point. This differs from a bullet, because it has nothing attached to it. I see where your going, and it dose take affect, but not any way near to the point u assume. If u let the sinker/lure hit the water even for a few seconds before closing the bail, the weight and speed of the line already pulling off the spool will make a lot more come out than the distance u cast, to avoid this, I closed it instantly as I said, a few times to early probs messed me reels bail up a bit aha, but I didn't let that extra line come out as as I said, I actually wanted to see how far I could sat as well bro! Ah, but as I also said there is still a slight arc as line is very light, and the more wind the more the arc, in a strong side wind u can take that 35m off easy, but in a no wind situation, it's only about 5m. Even with that,I'm still well over the 100mark. Good point tho pretty smart, cheers

 Not at all predictable are

Fri, 2017-06-30 18:53

Not at all predictable are you? I knew as I was writing that out, pretty much exactly what you were going to say in response. What do you know? I was spot on. You very convieniently have an answer for all who challenge you. What you fail to realise is that these predictable answers tell us that you are completely full of shit. Your math is guessing, even you say that you "Don't know about 35m". That's a guess boy & you really are full of it. If you seriously expect anybody with 1/2 a brain to believe that you are casting further than pros with specific casting rods, reels, lines & casting weights while you are using the wrong type of gear for distance in the first place, you really must be off your meds. Tell me how that would even be possible? How do you out cast the best on the planet using sub par gear that they would literally laugh at? Are you so thick that you really think all the records in the world are wrong & you are better than everyone else? I'll back myself to out cast you in both distance & accuracy & I'll do it only using a 9ft rod. You up for it? Let me guess, transport problems or you will convieniently be going away somewhere at the time of the next surfcasters meeting.

strange jackfrost but I don't see that as a negative or derogatory comment but they say only a fool argues with a fool so I'll leave you to it.

Too dumb to realise when he's been schooled. Keep working on getting them thongs on and off Manmaid and you'll eventually progress to shoelaces

Ay thanks guys

cheers boys yeah have no idea what's going on and no matter what I say I'm still the bad guy in all this, I post something and they imediatly call me a liar, and instead of sitting there like a lot of people do I actualy confronted them and they blast me again getting offended accusing me of calling them liars! When moments before they called me a liar! then they blast me for getting offended when they called me one!!! I simply proved my photo and explaind things I shouldn't need to, then once again they go me but this time calling me a sook and so on, forgetting there big sook in the middle. It actually hurts my brain, most people here seem like the stuck up kind who think they know it all by looking at a photo, even tho one of the comments worked out by the size of the reel in the photo my salmon was exactly as big as I said! Sorry for wasting your time reading this guys, but cheers for the support, finaly some genuine people here, absolutely discusts me all this. Cheers boys tight lines..../!

And yeah my mate just joined the forum as well and he has posted 3 posts of various fish including a gummy that he is very prowed of, and for the first few days not one person commented despite the near 1000 reads! Abit sad realy then I post something as well, and I get 50+ comments of negativity. Unbelievable!

Nice gummy

Thu, 2017-06-29 14:35

Bloody nice gummy mate. I've only caught a couple and always stoked to have them on board. I don't know how you handled it after you caught it but seeing as its your first one, here is a tip. Its best to gut, head and de-fin them, end part of the tail off so you just have the trunk left and put them on ice. They are then an outstanding eating fish and I just fillet them and I cook them with beer batter in the fryer. Knock that down with a cold beer and you will be out chasing them all the time.

good luck mate and getting a few more.

Cheers man

ah cheers bro yes I did almost exactly that as well! Ah save the finning tho I've never thought cutting the dorsal fin etc doses anything as there's no main arteries leading to them except the tail fin which I cut. I gutted, cut back of head and tail and along the spine in the gut cavity to pierce the main blood vessel in that point as well. and so on as soon as photos were taken and it was chilled as well. Filleted, skinned, cut into portions and into a salt water slurry for a quick wash to rid of any excess blood in the meat itself. Then frozen for a week and when cooked I battered and fried as well, tasted really gooood! Exceeded my expectations to be honest as a lot of the highly rated fish snapper red emp etc have let me down so was pleased to actually have a fish worth its price tag, but then again I love eating some salmon and skippy so maby it's just me aha,  chere's bro tight lines...

Suggestion

Fri, 2017-06-30 06:46

Nice gummy mate. Always love catching one when they come along.

Just a suggestion, to save the bitching and arguing, I've been "lucky" enough to read through both posts.

If you're able to supply a length and weight, you obviously measured and weighed the fish. Supply a picture of the length and weight and you'll no longer have to deal with the haters and you'll get a lot more deserved praise.

Again, not trying to start anything or create more arguement, just a suggestion.

listen here

Fri, 2017-06-30 15:50

My intentions weren't to rev up any of u I just didn't accept majority if u calling me for bs despite me telling u I'm not fking lying over and over and stood up for myself as savage as it seemed, I see it didn't get thorugh and unless I pic the fish on a brag mat or scales there will always be skeptics, just accept I'm not lying and that's that, don't keep going on about it then complain when I follow suit. Cheers peeps
