Nanga Resort

Hi just wondering if anyone has been to Nanga recently and what its like at the moment? Heard its pretty run down and probably not suitable for a stay with the missus who is more into the glamping.

Some very bad reviews

Talk about a pasting, didn't the government bring in some legislation last year that had the effect of making station owners who collected some income from allowing people to camp on their station have to have facilities up to a certain standard.

I know Tamala had to really sharpen their attitude on the facilities (which has unfortunately lessened the experience for those who were well prepared) and Carrang Station gave the whole idea the big FU.

All gone downhill since the days that Ted used to own it. Got really popular with pet crocodiles in the park and an artificial reef just in front too.

Run Down

Sat, 2020-03-07 06:36

Run down isn't a good description of it.

Missus worked there as a cook for 5 months 2 years back, the woman who owns it is getting dementia  and her son and daughter now are behind it and want it sold. They basically have run it into the ground, there are toilets that regularly overflow and block up, the back packers dongas have just about fallen to bits.

The motel units and pool area are still ok because they require minimal maintenance.

Not sure on who is managing it now that Mark and Stacey have left because it shut down over tje hottest part of summer and Stacey had to get a job in town and because she wasn't working for them , wasn't allowed to live in the motel accommodation but in their caravan.

There is satellite tv un the motel but none elsewhere, mobile phone coverage is that you have to stand on the sandhil or drive to the main road or down the beach to get it

Stay in town or check out

Stay in town or check out Monkey Mia, we went through there last year and whilst sparsely treed and lacking in shade due to redevelopment the facilities were first class. Might be worth a look.

Verrrry expensive

Monkey Mia is verrry expensive since the redevelopment, you are better off stopping in Denham at one of the caravan parks, they are all good value.

Do the dolphin thing once and save your money from getting ripped off every time you go into Monkey Mia by Dpaw people at the gate or do as the locals do, turn right and bypass the gatehouse once you get to the gap in the kerbing

stricko,

No fee for launching at Monkey Mia.

Just do as Carnarvonite said, veer right and bypass the gatehouse.
