Navionics Silver Routing - Lawrence Elite 5
Submitted by Cold Feet on Mon, 2015-09-07 16:10
Hi Guys,
My second query today is as follows..
My wife got me a Silver Navionics card from BCF for Fathers day yesterday, and I put it into my Lawrence Elite 5 - not the 5 chirp.., and I cant seem to get the unit to "plan a route" to a way point - the route from Safety bay Ramp to FFB takes me straight over Penguin Island???
Does the Navionics Silver card have the info/ability to route to a waypoint, around obstructions, Islands, shallow water and hazards, with the Elite 5?
Are my base settings incorrect, or something in the menu set wrong?
Thanks,

I didnt know any had the ability to plan a route around obstacles and if my HDS8 had the ability Id much prefer do it myself anyway?
Dont you need to plot it yourself or use "go to" to a waypoint?
EDIT, I see some have but with silver being the lower quality charts the option may not be available?

Im not sure, but if I remember correctly, my previous Hummingbird 968C combo, with a gold navionics card plotted the route to the waypoint in 3 or 4 straight segment lines to the waypoint, avoiding obstacles.. nothing too fancy, but from Sbay ramp it would indicate a line straight to channel marker, then another line out the main channel, then if it was a clear run, 3rd line to FFB...
Go to waypoint just takes a straight line on the Lawrence Elite 5??

I just uploaded the Navionics routing out of Sbay to FFB, and it avoids obstacles, and is a one waypoint setup.. wondering if the Elite 5 can do this too?
