Have tried an airmar tm258 with a navman 4507. Much better than original transducer supplied. Whilst you wont get the 1kw of power for depth you will get a lot more sensitivity in both 50 and 200 freq. Look up the airmar site, it will give you comparisons. Would I spend the coin on a new one, probably not with that head set. One going cheap , why not.
"The TM258 will make 600 W sounders respond like a more-powerful model. Get 16-times the sensitivity compared with a standard transom-mounted transducer."
Sounds like a huge boost in performance and the transducer could be used when I upgrade Head Unit.

seems a waste
seems a waste of time putting a 1KW transducer on a unit only capable of putting out 600 watts
