Gday all
Just wondering if anyone uses the app and is it owrth downloading. Looks as though it could come in pretty handy but have been burnt with other apps in the past not working properly
Has anyone had any faults with this one - cos about 15 bucks but much cheaper than buying a plotter

good
its a good app, though no substitute for a dash mount gps in your boat as its hard to steer and look at a small screen.
I used it before I spent the big bucks on some lowrance gear, its also good as a backup incase the boat gps fails. A guy I work with showed me some spots he fishes out of gero by showing me on my phone which was pretty handy, its also good when you have a bit of time up your sleeve(at work) to look for some possible ground to sound on the next trip.
best $15 you will spend

Have it on my phone and its
Have it on my phone and its quite useful sometimes, however, it is not as good as a normal chart plotter
1. It can only store 200 marks. Might sound like a reasonable amount but mines full already (and I only keep certain types of spots on it).
2. The resolution/accuracy sucks. I have a few diving marks that are tiny, and the software is rarely good enough to find them as you can only really get between 10 and 20m of the mark, not right on it to the meter or so my actual chartplotter can do. Many a frustrated minutes trying to find one mark in particular. Jason, you know the one. It also seems to update a bit slower and the tracking isnt as easy to use as my chartplotter.
3. Not waterproof, battery probs, etc, etc
For $15 its worth having on your phone, particularly if you want to fish your spots on someone elses spot, or someone shows you a nice spot to fish while out and about (see that little corner of the river there, if you fish along the bank there..., etc)

Agree with what everyone
Agree with what everyone else has said - not really useful as a dedicated chart plotter replacement but good for a backup and also for looking for likely ground or planning trips when you're bored. Also, your recorded tracks can be exported and viewed in Google Earth on your PC.
From an app point of view, it has been pretty stable and user friendly in the 6 months or so I have had it. Once had to contact the developer to ask if upgrading my phone firmware would be an issue and they got straight back to me (it wasn't...)
$15 might be pretty expensive as far as apps go, but if you consider that these are genuine full Navionics charts then a bit of a steal really.

+1 for the above comments.
+1 for the above comments. For the cost compared to a chartplotter and nav card its bloody good value, not a waste of money.
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.
