Another vote for TCurve
Tcurce 200 is a great bit of gear, I used one with a saltiga 30 in Exmouth im November and it pulled up a Cod that went over 40lb in 80m, it was hard work but the rod loved it. Needed some thumb assist technology to get it moving though

TCurve 200
Fantastic little rod, nice and light with plenty of grunt. Got a saltiga z40 on mine with 65lb tuf line. Paid $200 for mine, you said you have a 400 already. These are knowhere near as stiff.

Simon would agree with the guys Saltist 40 loaded with 50lb on either a t curve 400 overhead or a jigwrex overhead would come in the budget you are looking at and would be a nice combo that will take punishment and will last
