I have a Raymarine A65, and it is nice, but I'd buy the Lowrance HDS unit myself if I was to buy again. I'm kind of keen on the addons; sidescan and radar.
No point buying the platinum plus card if you live in WA, they didn't update the content over the regular platium.
Your next big question is warranty and dealer. I got my Raymarine locally from Challenge Marine and they were gracious enough to loan me the store demo a few times while I was waiting for Raymarine to replace it.

Not really, the A65 just stopped working once. Challenge Marine got it replaced and its been fine ever since.
I just think that for price/performance, perhaps the Lowrance units are a little better now.

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.
