Hey guys ,was wondering weather someone could tell me if this sounds rite.Im putting a furuno 585 sounder plus a 1kw transducer in a wet box in my boat
Ive been quoted $6321.00 this includes,removal of my jrc ff50 sounder and tranny, puchase of furuno 585 sounder and 1kw tranny to suit wet box ,install
sounder ,plus tranny and wetbox

Are they making up the F/G "wetbox" for you?
Is your original tranny in a wetbox?

cheers for the reply ryan, they are making up the wetbox and im purchacing a new transducer 1kw as my jrc ff50 is only good fpr 600w and is transom mount

The compatible Furuno 1KW
The compatible Furuno 1KW in-hull transducer comes with a wetbox housing.... No custom wetbox has to be built...

FCV585 SOUNDER (W/O TRANSDUCER) = ~$1850 RRP
1KW WETBOX TRANSDUCER = ~$930 RRP
TOTAL = $2780
Installation of the wetbox & sounder should take <2 hours, so should cost about $300 for parts & labour...

ps i was told that the 1kw transducer that comes with its own wetbox do not
work that well ,this is all new to me so its hard to know weather someone is pulling my leg or not

Without knowing exactly whats been sold/talked about/installed etc its hard to price up but yes the pass on the factory wetbox tranny setup is a good move!
From my "ruff" calculations inc custom wetbox, 200khz 1 kw, 50khz 1 kw, matching box to allow trannys and head unit to communicate, instalation, take down old gear would be approx $5500and that total isnt sharp!

For a Caribbean Reef Runner (21 degree deadrise), get a thru-hull 20degree tilted element transducer... it will save you heaps on install costs, and give you the best possible performance... In-hull = echo signal loss... plus... you can run over it with the trailer rollers and without damage...
