What size did you order?

The problem with those rods and big fish is the short butt length which makes fighting very painful :(

looks like a very nice bit of bling !
depends on what size you are going for rod match.

do you specifically want that length rod?
what about the SG62S-2/3F or for cheaper option (I hear have not fished though) J61S-2/3 have a nice action.

I think the release of the 3500/4000 size was a good move by daiwa. Lets hope they are a bit more robust than the previous couple of models.

 Hey guys,

Bit stupid me posting this and not the size sorry!

Ordered the 3012h

Looking for a good allrounder not so heavy and length not so fussed - not sure either 3-6 or 4 - 8

Isnt part of catching big fish on lighter gear feeling a pit of pain?

Anything with longer butt in 3-6 or 4-8kg?

Thanks for the info guys

if you want a bit of pain

if you want a bit of pain when catching bigger fish get the deckie to occasionally stick you with a filleting knife while fighting the fish or just cut the broom head off your broom at home and use that! bound to be uncomfortable and painful lol sorry couldn't resist :)

If you want a rod to do what it is designed to do (give you the most comfort) then get something with a longer butt section.

think the rods I suggested may be a little over for your reel but not really sure

what sort of budget do you have ? the saltiga coastals are very sweet

Yeah the rods you mentioned wont suit the 3012 Certate.

Budget around $400

Had a look at the Saltiga Coastal and I think they are also to heavy for the 3012

Anything other than Daiwa - I'm not up with all these other brands hence why I been lookin at Daiwa.

What would be comparible in Quality?

PE1-3 blast?

Good jigging stick but have fish plastics on it too. How will you be catching the fish you mentioned?

 Take the reel  loaded  up

Wed, 2016-02-03 13:03

Take the reel  loaded  up with braid to oceanside or a bluewater store and try it on different rods.  Load it up and you will find a rod that feels right for what you want to do. There are plenty of top rods around for 200- 400 dollars.  I like the shimano terez rods well made and well priced.  The daiwa rods are overpriced for what they are in my opinion.  There are so many different tapers out there and its hard to tell what a rod is like till you load it up.   A lot of new rods have fuji K guides  alconite rings I think they are great guides.

this is prob the go. although I would suggest complete angler Nedlands they have a pretty wide range of rods.

FWIW : daiwa rods may be a tad overpriced but jig with a saltiga coastal and nothing you use feels right again !

 Cheers Guys

Rod will be used our From Boat, Jetties and River - Perhaps even a yak!

Good Idea in taking the loaded reel to Local store - I would have purchased the reel locally if it wasnt for the longer wait....

I do have a Daiwa Hiramasa 63hsf paired with a Saltiga 5000h and love that rig but its a way heavier fishing unit more for popping and heavier Jigs.

great advice
