New Herring Bag Limit

If I take my boy down to Hillarys to catch some hezza for bait do we now have to take two buckets i.e. 12 in each bucket or can we chuck 24 into the same bucket?

I'm just worried about what happens when he gets bored and starts climbing the rocks and fisheries pop in to see me with 12+ herring

 Ask fisheries and they will

Ask fisheries and they will say no you cant of course.

Even if you have 2 buckets he isnt going to climb rocks with it.

So long as hes with you and you can call him and has participated, only a real a-hole would bother to try and do you for something.

Trawler report is crap

Sun, 2015-04-12 14:11

The report on the trawler is utter crap, herring don't usually go more than 5nm offshore so that leaves them out and the mackerel they are going to catch are blue or jack mackerel that are imported from NZ where they catch thousands of tonnes of them for use as craybait.

You would think the tv station would do their research before sprouting out nonsense that those who know nothing will believe as the truth.

Never let the truth

What is that old saying, aaarh yes, never let the truth get in the way of a story, (that will stir up controversy) and sell more advertising or papers.

Same bucket is OK but your boy has to be actively fishing

Mon, 2015-04-13 15:28

to be entitled to his quota of 12.

He would need a rod and be trying to catch / catching herring for a while. After that he can have a break and climb rocks etc.

This is my understanding of the rules anyway. Happy to be corrected.

Cheers,
D80

 I constantly saw big schools

Mon, 2015-04-13 16:21

I constantly saw big schools of Herring out level with the back of Rottnest Island. If you anchor and berley they are quite often in 40m of water and more.
