New Jersey Inshore Fun 2014

I wasn't able to visit San Diego for some hot tuna and yellowtail action during this El Nino. This is as close as I can get to that action without paying for a charter to chase tuna on the Atlantic coast. Perhaps the El Nino also affected the fishing off New Jersey. Water has been warm and the August bonito fishing had been phenomenal (relatively speaking...but not on my day of fishing). I hope the hot trend continues and the Little Tunny fishing will turn on in September.

Yeah, it really is too bad.

Yeah, it really is too bad. They are still catching yellowfin tuna and dorado a few miles straight out of LA. That's pretty crazy! I just want to go there and catch some yellowtail and bonito. I've caught yellowfin and dorado in the past...and unfortunately it's a bit late for bluefins since they breezed by at the end of July and early August. I hear the first albacore of this year was caught recently. Hope it'll turn on for my friends in SD.

According to FishBase, Banded

According to FishBase, Banded Rudderfish can get up to 75cm, but they are most common around 50cm. So they are quite a bit smaller than Yellowtail Kingfish.

Thanks for the kind words!

Very small japanese hooks

Mon, 2014-09-08 04:58

Very small japanese hooks used for tanago fishing, 2lb mono, and the smallest piece of worm.

The Golden Shiner wanted the bait at their level, while the Brook Silverside wanted the bait skipped on the surface.
