new reel any suggestions

i was looking a getting a new reel for jigging, bottom bouncing and trolling. and was looking at spending around $250. could any one give me an idea to which reels are good and where to get them (metro prefably)

daiwa saltist or shimano torium..both well priced n good tough reels! saltist r made in different gear ratios to suit u!

Both of what sam said are good choices. Though jigging with an overhead can be a bit painful as relaying the line without a levelwind is difficult when your trying to jig the lure.

I got a mxl avet a couple of years ago and i love it for all of the above ,its a freshwater wash after use and put away

I use a saltist 40 matched
I use a saltist 40 matched with a tcurve jig rod nice setup never had problems with the reel, if you are looking second hand i have a mate selling a torium 50 matched with a tcurve 400 not shore what he wants for it but it is brand new think he used it once pm if you are interested
