new reel for set baits

just curious to know whats a good reel to use for setting out big baits, i heard the fin-nor offshore is reliable with a high drag pressure & can hold alot of line. also what rod would suit it?

i was interested in the sneider glass and ozflex brands in a 15ft one peice size.

any info would b widely appreciated

cheers, caughtup

 What's your budget?

Value pick reels are the Penn SSM, Fin nor offshore.  I love my spheros and would recommend one.

A nice stiff surf rod will suit.  Again, depends what kind of money you want to spend.  You will be happy with a sneider or oxlfex though.

I run a 12FT Flueger Crank-120SPM Big Bait(Great rod) and a Spheros 18000FB for bigger baits

also use a 950SSM when it gets a bit dusty in the shed.

As esaysnag says, Budget????

when you say big baits.....how big?

do you want to cast it out, slide it, balloon it or kayak?

a big cast bait could be a 10" mullet

a kayak bait could go as big as you want.

casting, you would need a rod 12" or longer, (remember the longer the rod, the tougher the fight)

kayaking.... anything up to 10"

Line capacity . my recommendation would be 300m plus the distance you want to set your bait out.

fin nor off shore are nice reels, as is the penn 950.

then you have the gosa,
