The new rig

Just thought id chuck these on here because of the special landmark occasion of christening the new "little boat".Never had one and certainly never fished outa one but hopefully this weekend might fill a couple of holes in the old fishing career. I am just picturing hooking up with somethin and ending up in the drink!!! but any fish is worth gettin a wet arse for....

If anyone has any tips at all on the best way to fish outa a yak they will defenantly be takin on board! its just a cheap set up but the way i look at it as long as im out there i have 100% more of a chance to catch somethin and i can always up grade if it takes of

Me and "Boom Boom" the golden lab!!! he loves it, just has to be doin anything and everything i'm doin. Great mate

TREVOR HENDY!!!! haha my version anyway.

And again any info will be appriciated. Cheers lads

lol , ya dog looks right at home on the rig mate.

You dont need any fancy gadgets to get on the fish in Gero, Just head out with a few lures and sqid jigs and start casting.

Plenty of members on this site live up that way, i'm sure you will get some good advise.

Cheers Grant..

LOL looks good. Ok are there

LOL looks good. Ok are there any tie down points ? if not then get some stainless 1s to attach things like your rod, gaf, net paddel and yourself to it. If you use a net or gaf fill it with foam so if you drop it (& its not attached) it will float. AND spend $100 on a safty kit to keep in your back pack. I keep a empty 3ltr milk bottel in my pack so if all go's to shit i know 3ltr's will keep it afloat. I also use mine for spear fishing and tow a board with a bag on it 20m behind me to put any fish in it (of clothes and camping gear if going for a weekend) .By doing this you don't have blood or anything to bring the tigers in to test it out and if one hits the board and tears it apart (agen) who gives a dam ? its only a board i make and some fish and a bit of rope ,At  Under $50 to replace its better then a new yak or a leg or LIFE.

One last thing is think about the line you use ????  there is no point in useing 50/100 lbs if you can only put 30lb of pull on it b4 you tip over. If you get a snag in say 25m of water with 50lb line all you can do is cut it ..... I hope this helps you out a little and have fun

I have been getting out in

I have been getting out in the yak for a fish and doing well about 1-2 km's off the shore.Fitted a 3 rod holder between my feet.works a treat. Some thing else to think about is safety gear. I was stopped by the D.O.T on Anzac Day off Ocean Reef, they isisted that all vessels on open water should have an anchor,PFD type 1, flares and anchor, reguardless of distance from shore or being a sit on or sit in kayak.
I have searched the net for info on this from the D.O.T but they only mention PWC's and nothing about kayaks.
