Any other Broome yakkers?

I have seen quite a few kayaks on top of cars but not too many in the water, I was wondering if there are any forum members who kayak around broome?

Would be great to organise a get together trip.

Yeah i know that guide was said to have wanted to open up other places,,Exmouth and Coral bay were two places mentioned, better off starting your own anyway and get paid to fish all day Cool

The Outbacks are a handy yak and pretty popular with a lot of guys around Perth.

Broome Yak Action

Mon, 2011-06-06 18:53

Got my Tarpon about a year ago and I gotta admit - I do love it.

Just came back from a paddle this afternoon. Ended up doing laps about half a click off Gantheaume Point but only got a small cod to show for my troubles. This time of year with good visibility you can see the bottom 5 meter below.

Riddel Beach has been showing a bit of action lately with small cudas jumping on the lures during one session. Still waiting to land a big mack from the yak though. Reckon it would be choice to get a big run from the yak.

Drop me an email if you're still around.

I used to fish around broome

Sun, 2010-09-26 15:15

I used to fish around broome from a kayak only with a handline as it was a small and basic kayak. I fished off cable beach and caught trevally and snapper to 1 kg (think they may have been saddletail) Fished the rock ledges on a high tide straight out from where they surf.

Fished Ganthume Point but only ever managed flaggies and small cod.

Fished near the port - usually paddled out to the reef outcrops and fished from them or the channel markers that are a little further out. Managed Coral trout, flaggies, cod, barramundi cod and queenies. Didnt go out there after seeing a massive hammerhead. The guy who runs the kayak fishing charters said the hammerhead is always there and he used to usually troll for macks between the channel markers and do quite well.
