New sounder for tinny

Scored this bad boy down the tip for 20 bucks, plugged it in and away she went. Can’t beat the old video sounders for picking up coral.

Looks like an early 80’s  microwave . You need a three phase generator to run that little puppy ?

We need to start a retro fishing gear page

My advise is too use all pre corn shuns before heading out to east  africa lookn for tha koral  in tha tinny mate , but all in all youse be fine .

Final touches would be ya 14 foot surf rod outriggers for da blacks ya pick up on way home , oh and wear ya double pluggers for flotation

caws ya can never be too cawshush.

Don’t worry boys

there is a pub in north freo way “Rodney’s bait and tackle” that is a fishing themed hipster sort of pub. They have an old furuno similar to that mounted to their wooden boat bar inside. They would be in the market for something like that I am sure. Plenty of nostalgia associated with an item like that.

Older model

I know where I can get hold of an even older Furuno paper sounder, they were a pleasure to read and I think gave a better bottom density than colour sounders.

The main problem was running out of paper rolls and having to adjust the stylus when you have put the same roll back in, so it printed on an unused section of the paper so you could get more than one use per roll. The Furunos were better than the Marlin sounder because they were straight line not rotary readings on the paper

It’s an old FE4000.
