New tender advice
Submitted by davewillo on Mon, 2020-09-14 11:54
Looking to get a tender for the new boat I'm buying. I want something around 2.6m and preferably about 4hp outboard. I've seen Island Inflatables that look pretty good value but have no idea about the better outboard choices. Any thoughts on the cheapest option to get a good reliable tender? I'll probably go for an air-deck for storage reasons.
Thanks!

Aristocraft
I had a small Aristocraft, it was good quality and not too expensive.
The chandlery next to Freo Sailing Club sells them.

Thansk resurgence. I had an
Thansk resurgence. I had an Aristocraft last boat and it was good so might do that again. Just not sure on small 2 stroke versus 4 stroke outboard

Engine weight
At that size weight is the most important criteria. 2 strokes in the 4-6hp range are pretty bullet proof, and much lighter than a 4 stroke.

I wanted light weight so
I wanted light weight so went with the zodiac cadet air deck & the popular 2.3hp 4st Honda as it's air cooled so less maintenance. Great combo and super easy to wrangle on and off the bow coming in & out the bays at Rotto. Zodiac is great quality

Thansk Stevo. That was the
Thansk Stevo. That was the sort of combo I was thinking about. Don't need more power really and definitely air-deck for weight and ease. I also have a Honda genny so it makes sense to have a 4 stroke I guess - only need to carry 1 type of fuel then.
