A nice problem to have...

Have had my heart set on the Daiwa morethan branzino 3000 for some time, even recently in a thread stated it would be my favourite reel when i finally bought it due to its versatility in the metro area, but today Ive noticed the saltiga 3500 game.

The saltiga just looks so much more robust compared, now Im starting to re think it.

What are your thoughts on the comparison between the two, theyre similarly priced, same drag, saltiga weighs more but thats not a concern to me.

I think the saltiga might be the better option....?

It definately is a nice problem to have but It is a decent amount of money to spend so i want to get it right.

Ive caught a few more dolphin fish off the rig since an ealier thread where i got my first so I am keen to bring the reel with me to and from work to use on a travel rod i just bought for this use, but Id also be using it metro for a whole range of s/w species. Id probably get a spare spool also so i could use it for a wide range of applications.

I open up the floor to your opinions...

the game is slightly heavier and *may* have a little better line capacity, but its hard to go past the cool factor the branzino. The lesser price of the Branzino will probably cover your braid as well.

but I agree, nice dilema to have.....

2 completely differnt size reels. Hell different purpose built all up. Main thing get the reel to suit the rod. If you decide to move to the Game 3500, Im more than happy to offload the Branzino...for a reasonable price obviously....hehe

Hey Honsu

Theyre fairly similar reels i think, ones a 3000 and ones a 3500 so that is a small difference but same 7kg drag, 4.8 - 4.9 similar gear ratio, both hold 250m of pe2. 110 gram weight difference - not a big deal to me.

you said they have totally different purposes, what do you reckon the differences in their purposes are?

About  the reasonable price, mate - you know better than anyone i just cant help myself when it comes to fishing gear and hunting for a bargain! hehe Wink.

Might make the trek down SOR to come and have a look in your store this time off.

Later dude.

I have played with the branzino and thought it to be a bit plastic, where as I have two of the 3500 game reels and love them very hardy reel, yes they are heavier than the branzino but are better built have matched them to the 6800 saltiga rod perfect as a light allrounder.

thats what i was starting to think, thinking my heavy handed ways might manage to break the branzino but the saltiga does look alot more robust.
