NO DHUIES/FISH

What is going on since the ban was lifted not a lot of reports ,of good fish have all the dhueies gone or are they becoming smart and not taking baits, everyone was getting good numbers of fish last year ,just doesn't seem to be a lot happening .And if your thinking where are my reports well I haven't been out since the ban was lifted so nothing to report. Keep thinking about it but .just can't get the mojo happening. deckies are ready to linch me I don't get them on the water soon.

I was about to say the same thing. Yesterday Saturday was looking perfect for a sunset/high tide session, now it's screwed.

I've had some 45cm models but nothing sized yet in the 35 - 40s behind Garden Island

When I first saw the post come up I was surprised it was you complaining Paul, and a little worrying at the same time having seen first hand your Dhuie experience

We have been doing ok

Tue, 2014-01-21 15:09

Not brilliant but reasonable on the dhuie's.

seem to be catching a fair few around the 60cm mark.

It certainly has been slower than just prior to the ban however as many have said I think the amount of wind we have been copping these last few months is one of the main reasons the reports have been few and far between.

No MOJO

Tue, 2014-01-21 15:19

is my excuse aswell. But then I think that is because I have forgotten how to catch a dhu after the Karratha years.

First have to find some marks after the wind settles. With this wind and swell been trying to scare the local Peel crabs instead.

We found the last few years

Tue, 2014-01-21 18:31

We found the last few years that as the water got hot, it was good for pelagics but worse for dhuies.....not sure if there is any reason to this or not.

Since the ban I have only been out twice, medium size dhuies both times, main issue has been weather.

 I have fished from 20 - 45

Tue, 2014-01-21 19:16

I have fished from 20 - 45 metres approx 5 times and have struggled, got one dhu around 62cm, lost one, caught only undersized snapper and around 4 sambos. Have had two trips that where absolutely crap with no decent bites at all.

most fish have come from in close.

Old fart has found when

Wed, 2014-01-22 09:52

its a full moon, the dhuie's come in close, they swim from say 40meters+  and come in to about 10meters to eat the crayfish, especially here in Leeman.

We've got our limit in close (some digesting crayfish in their gut or one dhuie had the feelers sticking out of its gob when old fart caught him  on occie)  and come home within 2hrs of launching.  Then spoke to fisho's coming in on the ramp and haven't caught anything out wide.

Sometimes at the corner break when the water is so clear, you can see them swimming on the bottom.  Young tacker caught a massive mackrel trolling just outside the reef at the green marker a couple of Xmases ago.
