North and South mole closed already

Crikies now the Port closes it at a whim. Why dont they close it off full time.

What a fucking joke. Safety bullshit has got out of hand

None of the other marinas are closed. What have the Ports done. Bunch of pussies

Skirt can't get wet.

When we went to school there was a scrawny kid who didn't like rough play, didn't like yelling, I didn't like climbing trees and didn't like things their mothers weren't doing.

as the years went by the wimpy kids grew old enough to get a car licence, but it took a very long time. He didn't like the engine noise, or the cars that came so close or the fact that you had to do something in life to pass the licence test.

Then the wimpy kid got old enough to get a job. You know the job type, one where there is lots of paper, and lots of rules, and air conditioning, and mats to wipe your feet on, and food from a shop that has traffics light ratings on all the produce.

as all the people retired or died in the senior roles above the wimpy kids job he got to apply for the newly vacant job. He didn't get many at first because he was so frigid wimpy, so impracticle and soooo scared of everything in life. Eventually one day he lucked in on a job interview. He had a cold that day and could talk much shit like he normaly did, and the dick for brains interviewers couldn't see how piss weak the wimpy man was. So they appointed him to the job.

now wimpy man was in his new and powerful job and he could finally make the world safe enough for him to go outside without shitting his pants. New rules were created nearly every week, and the whole world was becoming safer. There was sooo much work to do. The last person had been very slack and hardly any rules existed. Fear not, wimp man had plenty of energy because he had never used any at school.

one day it rained and wimpy man sat in his office shitting his pants. As tears trickled down his face wimpy man looked out the window wishing his mum could be there to cuddle him. As he looked out the window, just beyond he rain drops he could see splashing and people having fun. This can't be he though, I could never go out in the rain not to mention stand over there. I must make a rule so people can't work out how pissweak I am.

so he sat at his pissy computer all afternoon tapping, typing and shitting his pants. Finally he was done. No having fun on the Fremantle moles when he's too scared to go outside. And all the people in his city stood and wondered what excuse for a person made this rule.

Wed, 2014-06-18 09:27

Haha that's a good one, but I would suggest the real story would be more like...

There once was a very clumsy, careless person named Mr Clumsy. Mr Clumsy would stumble from one misadventure to the next. He burnt himself with all manner of things, cut himself open on anything remotely sharp and tripped on anything but the most level surface. Despite his clumsiness, he had a heart of gold and one day met an equally clumsy girl and they settled down and had loving cross-eyed children.

One day Mr and Mrs Clumsy decided to take their cross-eyed children for a fish at the North Mole. They were having a great time pulling in herring hand over fist, until Mr Clumsy slipped on a rock and broke his back. This tragedy was no one's fault, it was just one of those things, but Mr Clumsy couldn't perform at work anymore. His boss, who was also a good mate and felt sorry for him, kept him on the books as long as possible, but he had to think of the business that was providing for his own family. So Mr Clumsy who no longer had an income, now had huge medical bills and no way of putting food on the table.

Mrs Clumsy was watching tele one day and saw an ad for a lawyer. "Have you been in an accident that has caused you injury... you might be eligible for a large amount of money". Mrs Clumsy told her husband about the ad. Mr Clumsy didn't want a bar of it. He didn't really like lawyers and besides, it was an accident, it wasn't anybody's fault. But Mrs Clumsy pointed out the bank account was empty and the cross-eyed kids need new spectacles, not to mention food and clothes. Mr Clumsy hated the idea of going to see lawyers, but it wasn't about what he wanted, it was about providing for Mrs Clumsy and the kids.

So off the Clumsies went to the see the lawyer. The lawyer was a nice guy. He wasn't slimy or tricky. He asked lots of questions and only wanted to be told the truth. After an hour or so, the lawyer explained that he has dealt with these cases all the time and that the Clumsies stood a good chance to receive a settlement. The lawyer asked them about their medical bills, the kid's needs and their living expenses. The lawyer showed them a number. It was huge, far more money than Mr and Mrs Clumsy have ever seen in their lives, but there was no luxury built into the amount, it was the minimum the Clumsies could possibly live on, in fact they would still have to make some major cutbacks.

Several months later, a man walks into a boardroom. He reports to the Fremantle Port Authority that they are being sued again. The other people sigh, this is the fifth time this month. They all know what this means. Most of them grew up in the area and took their kids down to the mole from time to time, but last month their insurer had informed the board that their premiums would be going up due to the increased number and size of the claims. The increased premiums simply had to be paid, but where would the money come from? Suggestions filled the room; "shut the boat ramp," "put up parking fees," "why don't we just close the Mole?"

That is bullshit!

Find us the court cases where the public have sued the Port Authority for standing on rock in rough weather?

It will be on the court website where the case was held.

What it is, is insurance companies will overcharge then offer rebates if the govt turns Australia into a something that resembles less freedom than China because they dont have this bullshit.

People dont presume everywhere they go is safe because there is no signs and no safety officers. They actually think about the risk.

PS. New Zealand doesnt have this bulldust law. One of the reasons New Zealands tourism is going great guns

Just going off to search magistrates court and speak to some lawyers about cases

The Port Authority is a law unto their own, not covered by councils etc..

Just searched one database with no civil action from persons against FPA. Will speak to another lawyer. You willnotice they have just put up new gates to make it easier with obvious more intention to close the Mole as a whim.

Every time it gets a load of people they have to get their landscape team out there to clean the joint up.

Maybe they have left it closed to save some cash or similar fed up with the rubbish?

Bulkie, to put them in the classification of 'fishos' isnt correct. They are the same people when they do anything else.

Ive been to a couple of the Recfishwest volunteer clean ups filling my tandem trailer. Dirty nappys, you name it. There is bins nearby.

Dont see many other groups out on volunteer clean ups with their own equipment. Things like blow up dolls etc. I know fishos like to take a friend but...

Also the Australia day clean up. We focus on the river. Crikies theres some crap dumped by non-fishos in the river. Same thing, full 2 tonne tandem trailer. Many of them boating items. Things, TVs and not many fishing items in proportion.

Fri, 2014-06-20 13:23

One thing I have noticed, since the new work has taken place on the North Mole, is that a huge amount of sand and small stones gets washed onto the road anytime we get a large swell. I think someone also mentioned that some of the bike path has collapsed because of this.

Not really a good sign as it may result in work needing to be done in this area.

Sat, 2014-06-21 11:31

The road is that badly damaged that the tarmac has shifted in entire sheets. Doesn't sound like it was done properly first time.

Its that bad, it concerns me whether it will be fixed before its screwed again. Sounds like it will be ongoing closed every winter until its ripped up and done properly.

By the time the tender procurement process and action occurs another storm will be in.
