North Freo Flats

Took my (wife's) nephew for a quick flick early this morning between the bridges at North Freo for about 2 hours.
Caught these for lunch today. Now just have to get wifey to clean and cook.

Saw a reasonable school of something in the middle of the river - not sure what they were but they were moving at a great rate of knots up river then got to about red herring and turned back, disappeared after the old Freo bridge. Possibly being chased by some bigger thing. Didn't see any dolphins. Seagulls liked it though.

What sort of rigs / baits

What sort of rigs / baits were you using? Cool to hear about the unidentified school. What do you think it could likely be?

Damn, I was in the same area this morning and got nothing. Good work. Blowies are out in force.

 KISS ....... principle.

KISS ....... principle. Nothing too scientific and with basic equipment.

Small long shank. Fresh prawn and a bit of black mussel meat then another bit of prawn. "Molusc kebab".

We must have been a bit lucky fisharoo .... we stopped as soon as the blowies showed interest.

Could have been tailor but what made them dash in and dash out like they did.

Did not have the gear to cast that far.

Lunch was good. Wifey did a good cook up ( as always) ...... grilled in a butter and garlic sauce.

 Exact same spot fisher kid.

Its an amazing spot hey. I found it by mistake a year ago and has produced more times than not.

you drop some burley about 10-15 metres to the left and it drifts across there to get them all interested.
