north mole

hey...i was fishing up at north mole just a few hours ago...it was a wonderful day fishing up there....i was on about half an hour after i started fishing ......i fought it for over 20 mins but could not lift it up of the bottom...was calling it a very very big ray....but who knoes??? ...about 3 mins later my 20lb line snap...dissapointing...any 1 knoes wat it is likely to be??and their heaps of bigger fishes around but i don't really know what are they....at least 2 -3kg's

Wed, 2007-11-14 12:28

heard this from one of the old fisherman who fish for them regularly..buff bream have to be gutted and bled straight after caught . not doing so will cause the flavour of the meat to taste wrong. got something to do with the weeds they are eating down there.

come and get it fishy fishy fishy !!!!!!

Apart from being crap to eat, are the Buff bream good fighters. If they eat weed it might be an opportunity to pull out my old blackfishing gear and try some some super lightweight float fishing.

They sound like fun. I might have to beef up my light blackfish gear a bit and edge towards the drummer set-up. Regards Colin Hay

I was catchin BIG buff bream

Thu, 2007-11-15 12:06

I was catchin BIG buff bream at kalbarri.

Best was burly them up with cubes of mulies and use a float with a bream sized hook with a chunk on and cast it into the burley trail.

They go hard and shit all over ya when you get em up lol!!

Cabbage weed

Thu, 2007-11-15 12:16

I noticed some good quality cabbage weed at Hillaries recently, whick looked like it had been chomped by something. I am guessing now that it may have been some buff bream. A bit of that on strong hook under a float and I could be in for some light takle, sporting action. Colin

Thanks Dean, I might see if I can find some at Hillary's, if not it is off to Mindarie. They sound like they fight like big black or silver drummers, Strong and mean. Definately not like luderick (blackfish),  Regards Colin Hay
